Chapter Philanthropy & Service
Our Chapter’s Contributions
Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation
Epsilon Psi Chapter at UT Dallas holds several philanthropy events to raise money for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation, which benefits diabetes awareness and education. Through these fundraising efforts, we strive to raise $2,000 each school year in order to become a Jewel Chapter. The Jewel Chapter Award, which we have received for 17 consecutive years, is the highest philanthropic award given to a chapter.
Mr. UTD is one of our annual philanthropy events that benefits the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. It is a pageant for men at UTD who are a part of an organization that they wish to represent. Mr. UTD is one of our most important charity events! The men compete in a beauty pageant where they are accompanied by lovely Alpha Gams during their formal and talent sections of the event. It is great fun, and one lucky contestant has the honor of becoming Mr. UTD.
Scottish Rite Hospital
In addition to fundraising for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation, we also give small gifts to our local philanthropy organization, the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Through donations, this hospital provides free medical care to over 14,000 children a year. Some of the small gifts we have given to the children of Scottish Rite Hospital to brighten their day have been mugs with hot cocoa mix and Valentines Day cards. In addition, we volunteer at Scottish Rite a few weekends every semester. When we go, we craft and play board games with the children.
One of our favorite Alpha Gam fundraisers at UTD is Penny Wars! All Greek organizations have penny jars to fill up daily with pennies which add points, but points from other organization’s jars are deducted when nickels, dimes, quarters and bills are donated. The organization with the highest amount of points is declared the winner and receives a prize for their chapter! All the money is donated to the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation.
Other Volunteering Opportunities
Although our chapter is rigorously involved in helping raise funds for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation, Scottish Rite Hospital and Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund, we also reach out and help the community in other distinct ways. In the past, we have volunteered for several other organizations throughout the year and we plan to maintain that standard. Additionally, our group of ladies enjoys helping other philanthropies on campus, including those of other fraternities and sororities.
